Dear Ranny et al,
Great proposal. This is the pointer for potential collaboration with Akraino for slicing topics.

Hi,
We are getting good response to our call for participation, and it looks like we may be able to produce more than one whitepaper this year!
The first group that stepped up plans to write a paper based on their recent End-to-End Network Slicing work in the community. Attached please find their proposed outline. Please take a minute to review and
provide feedback if you have any. The group will soon start creating content, and as we did before – will share drafts for broader review as they make progress.
We are still open to additional proposals. If you are interested, please visit the wiki page:

Thanks,
Ranny.

Hi Swami,
Yes, that should be OK. Please be prepared to discuss things like:
- The target audience
- The expected key takeaways
The purpose of this discussion in the TAC is to help you shape the direction of the whitepaper, not to put you through some sort of scrutiny. We appreciate you taking the initiative and volunteering to contribute.
Regards,
Ranny.
Hi Jason,
Thank you very much for your inputs and for the meeting details.
For the meeting on Mar 10th, I assume it’d be enough to have a draft outline/ToC of the proposed paper based on which we can discuss and seek feedback & advice from TAC.
Regards,
Swami.

Swami, Ranny,
Sorry for the late response. Thank you Swami for your interest in writing a whitepaper. These types of papers are very helpful for the visibility of LFN throughout the industry. If you have the team and you’re ready to go, that’s even better.
If we do two white papers, we could possibly publish them a couple months apart to get maximum effect.
Our next TAC meeting is Wednesday March 10th at 7am US Pacific time. Zoom link below. I’m copying Casey so he can be sure this is on the agenda.
Jason
Hi Ranny,
Thank you very much for the feedback and inputs. While we wait for Jason’s inputs, a couple of follow-on queries:
- Can you pl. share the details of the TAC meetings – date/time and bridge info? Whom should we request for a slot on the Agenda?
- What is the approximate timelines we are looking at after presentation at the TAC and hopefully it gets accepted – for e.g., 1 month for preparing
a decent draft version, and after that a few iterations with the Marketing team before the final contents are ready?
Thanks & Regards,
Swami.

@Jason Hunt
Hi Swami,
First, thanks for stepping up and volunteering to contribute.
Regarding your questions, I personally think having more than one paper is welcome. My initial thought was that we will not have enough contributors and will have to choose just one theme. Seeing that you
already have a critical mass of contributors for your paper I believe we can have more than one.
I think the best way to move forward is to have your team present the proposed topic to the TAC in one of the coming meeting, get some feedback and gauge the interest. Assuming the TAC gives its blessing to
the topic, you can start working on content after that. I would be happy to work with you during the process and provide tips and support based on my experience. @Jason
Hunt - please keep me honest here and let us know if you see the process differently.
Regards,
Ranny.
Hi Ranny,
We are interested in writing a white paper on E2E Network Slicing, and how the ongoing open source work in ONAP can address the needs of CSPs and industry verticals. We have updated the draft entry in
https://wiki.lfnetworking.org/display/LN/Theme+proposals+and+Subject+Matter+Experts.
A couple of questions:
- Our understanding is, there can be more than 1 whitepaper that will be chosen for preparing & publication. Is this correct?
- Is there any review or approval process for finalizing the themes? It would be good to get some critical feedback on the proposal, and subsequently
also on the outline, so that the whitepaper is of interest and use to a larger (and relevant) audience.
Thanks & Regards,
Swami (on behalf of the E2E Network Slicing team).

Hello ONAP community memebrs,
Following the success of last year’s
LFN technical whitepaper, we have kicked-off the process of creating the next one.
This year’s whitepaper should continue to share our vision with a broader industry audience, drive adoption of our software and bring on more players to the game.
The theme for the paper is still open for decision and we are looking for contributors.
Based on previous experience contributors can invest as little or as much as they see fit. As a contributor you will benefit from collaborating with other experts in the community and spreading your ideas.
You will of course get credit as an author. You don’t have to be a member of any project or committee to contribute. Participation is open for all.
If you would like to participate or propose a theme, please add your name on this page:
https://wiki.lfnetworking.org/display/LN/Theme+proposals+and+Subject+Matter+Experts
Thanks,
Ranny Haiby
Interim Whitepaper workgroup leader.
